Design for Incisive Media.

I’ve recently had the opportunity to do front end web development on the Magento eCommerce platform for one of Incisive Media’s brands. It’s been a great experience working with our developers. My role has been primarily contributing my CSS, HTML , Photoshop and basic PHP skills.

I’ll post some screen grabs once the site is live.

I had the chance to work on a visual version of my cv/resume. It was really fun and caused me to re-think and better organise the key points in my skills set and background.

Video for Personal work.

This is the intro I did for a digital media class in audio and video. The video footage was shot using iPhone4; Adobe Premiere and Audacity were used to produce the video and audio. Photoshop was also used for creating the text slides.

I hope to re-shoot the remaining sequences for the entire video at a later time as the audio quality was not that good without an external microphone. It was alot of work just to produce the video with audio in the first place and I did not anticipate how important pre-production would be.

I plan to redo the rest of the video using pre-production tools such as story boarding, scripting and location scouting with more attention to curating the visuals in terms of exactly what I want in the frame – the setting, the lighting, the background noise, even down to what the person is wearing.

Facebook “Like” page, IM Careers

Facebook page for Incisive Media.

Initially Incisive Media Careers needed something for a Facebook Like page with a quick turn around and so we settled for an engaging image composed of assets that we already had as well as a bold type treatment. After a few weeks of testing the Facebook page, they came back with a request for a set of 5 pages, effectively a small micro-site.

Design for “Error 503 Service unavailable”

A design idea for the HTTP Error 503 – Service unavailable came from the idea of being momentarily interupted while watching a play or movie and with a subtle plea to be patient for only a short duration until regular programming resumes.

Most of the work was done in PhotoShop, but Illustrator was used for vector art.

Flash adverts, CAPAW

This ad was created in Flash CS4 using Motion Tweens and using keyframes within the Motion Editor for fine tuning. The starfish is rotating to create a rolling effect as though it has just been thrown. The inspiration for this came from CAPAW’s brand, specifically the Starfish Story, which tells the tale of a boy throwing starfish back into the sea in order to save them from burning in the sun.

Photoshop and Illustrator were also used in the creative process.

Facebook “Like” page, BusinessGreen

Facebook page for Incisive Media.

This Facebook like page was created first as a comp using Illustrator and Photoshop in order to get sign-off on the design. Once approved I delivered a validated html/css coded version of the design which was later inserted into Facebook using their recommended iFrame widget.

These ads were created in Flash CS4 using the Action Script TransitionManager effect, PixelDissolve, as well as easing effects to give the text animation a sense of urgency.

Audio, “Rethink Everything”

I recently completed an assignment to create an audio narrative for a digital media class. I used a tiny story I wrote for a blog post as the narrative and added other audio clips to enhance the voice recording.

The music is Gili Calexico by Calexico. I also used various sound effects such as sea gulls at the beach, large ocean waves and cello with noise.

I used Audacity to create the audio and Premiere to incorporate it with the image.

My inspiration was emphatically from Ira Glass and Co at This American Life.

The audio piece was uploaded to vimeo.

Budapest street art video

Slideshow video for Personal work.

I had a class assignment to create a video slideshow in Adobe Premiere. I has some great pix from our Budapest trip a few years back and decided to incorporate them in the video.

I used Adobe Photoshop and Premiere. The audio is “Kronkite” (instrumental vers.) by The Creators off the Exit Through the Gift Shop soundtrack.
